The Physiology of Stress

The Physiology of Stress

The physiology of stress is a complex subject and we can only give a 'snapshot' here. You don't have to understand all the terminology, but we find it helps people to understand that stress is an automatic, chemical response - it is an imbalance in our body chemistry leading to exhaustion.

Fight or flight - a completely automatic response.

Fight or flight operates under a part of our nervous system that is responsible for maintaining the balance in our bodily functions, such as body temperature, heart rate and digestion.
